Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of sports and soft tissue injuries, Dr. Adams takes a comprehensive, meticulous and caring approach in her evaluation and treatment plans in order to prevent further injury and return patients and athletes quickly to regular activity. For recreational, elite and professional athletes seeking to improve performance, Dr. Adams offers innovative and wide-ranging techniques, founded on scientific principles and research, to identify biomechanical dysfunction and develop training regimens to maximize potential.  She is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP), the highest level of accreditation in sports chiropractic.  She also has certifications in taping techniques and Sole Supports Orthotics.

Dr. Adams was selected by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as an official member of the sports medicine team for Team USA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She treated USA team members of Men’s Basketball, Men and Women’s Indoor Volleyball,  Women’s Water Polo, Track and Field, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Boxing, Fencing, Softball, Wrestling and many other Team USA athletes.  She is the first female sports chiropractor officially selected by the USOC to a Summer Olympic games held internationally. She was selected by the USOC as the official sole Team USA Sports Chiropractor for the 2007 World University Games held in Bangkok. Dr. Adams has also worked with USA Triathlon and is a member of the USA Gymnastics Network.  She did a sportsmedicine internship rotation at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Dr. Adams was awarded “Sports Chiropractor of the Year” in 1999 and has written award-winning sports injury abstracts presented at the national ACBSP symposia.

A graduate of the Southern California University of Health Sciences, Dr. Adams has lectured in postdoctoral sports program for the Southern CA University of Health Sciences,  the ACBSP symposium, as well as undergraduate sports councils.  She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology with a minor in Chemistry, and a certificate in Psychological Field Services.

Dr. Adams has extensive experience and knowledge in the management of sports and spinal injuries as well as medical coverage of multiple sports events. Dr. Adams’ commitment to the community and youth athletes is notable.  She served as the medical director for the Oakland Athletic League football, basketball and Track and Field Invitational tournaments for over ten years.  She continues to support local events and athletes.

Dr. Adams is a member of the United States Sportsmedicine Society, the Northern California Olympians, the American Chiropractic Association, the ACBSP, the Sinkler Miller Medical Association and other professional organizations.

She is currently the Team Doctor for Cal Women’s Rugby.  She is also a member of the UC Berkeley Taekwondo Tournament Medical Staff.

When not in the office, covering a sports event or working on the field, Dr. Adams is training in martial arts, running or weight-training.  She holds a 3rd degree Black belt in Shotokan karate and is an official instructor.
