Dr. Sonia Bell joins us from Stanford Hospital and Clinics, where she received her medical residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation/Sports Medicine.

She is a graduate of the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine and obtained her undergraduate degree locally from the University of California, Berkeley in Physiology and Anatomy. Dr. Bell specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Performance Arts Medicine and Occupational Medicine.

Dr. Bell was appointed as team physician for USA TRACK AND FIELD in 2008 and currently travels with them both nationally and internationally to provide sports medicine to the team athletes and urgent care services for the team and staff. Additionally, she has acted as a team physician for the 1996 OLYMPIC GAMES, NCAA TRACK AND FIELD, STANFORD UNIVERSITY US OPEN TRACK AND FIELD, THE WORLD FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS. She also provides medical coverage for local marathons, triathlons and youth sporting events.

Dr. Sonia Bell, a former student and performer of 13 years with the San Francisco Ballet, while under the direction of Lew Christiansen and Michael Smuin, and is the acting dance kinesiology instructor for SAN FRANCISCO BALLET’S LEAP PROGRAM. She uses this unique teaching opportunity to educate dancers on the importance of gaining a understanding of their bodies and their individual biomechanics as a means to promote longevity within their career.
